Background
About Dr. Kenchappa
Dr. Kumar Kenchappa trained in general medicine at JIPMER, Puducherry, and in cardiology at Christian Medical College, Vellore — two of the most competitive clinical training programmes in the country. He is a Fellow of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions and of the American College of Cardiology.
His practice covers the full range of coronary intervention, from primary angioplasty in an acute heart attack through to complex, image-guided procedures using intravascular ultrasound and optical coherence tomography. He also implants pacemakers, ICDs and cardiac resynchronisation devices, performs device closures for congenital defects, and treats peripheral arterial disease.
He has published peer-reviewed work on left ventricular function, diastolic dysfunction in diabetes, and the cardiac manifestations of dengue. Alongside clinical practice he runs a Kannada-language cardiac education channel, on the view that most heart disease in India is caught later than it needs to be, and that plain explanation in a patient's own language is part of the treatment.
